GRAND LAKE LODGE HISTORY

Registered as a National Historic Landmark by the Department of Interior in 1993, the Grand Lake lodge remains as it has been since its construction in 1919, the essence of western hospitality.

The Lodge was originally concived to be the tourist stop at the west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park as part of a transportation and lodging company which provided amenities to travelers.

Since 1953 the Ted L. James Family has owned and operated the Grand Lake Lodge as a summer resort complete with cabins, restaurant, bar, gift shop, stables, heated pool and other guest amenities. Curently under the ownership and management of the third and fourth genterations of the same family, the Lodge is looking forward to the future with the development of Tonahutu Ridge.
